Chartres Cathedral is listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, and following recent restoration work new evidence of its history has come to light. The entire monument, through stone and glass, tells the story of the genesis of a city and the craftsmen who built it. A qualified heritage guide will take you around the building, explaining its architecture, windows and sculpted decorations. The tour includes an introduction to Gothic art and its constituent parts and an explanation of the iconographic programme of the three portals.
The tour includes:
- Admission to the International Stained-Glass Centre.
- A demonstration of stained-glass techniques in our studios.
- A full tour of the cathedral.
